Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all aspects of fleet operations including dispatch, routing, vehicle tracking, and driver performance.
- Develop and enforce policies and procedures to ensure efficient fleet utilization and compliance with local transport laws and safety standards.
- Monitor fleet metrics and KPIs such as fuel consumption, and route efficiency.
- Manage driver recruitment, training, and evaluation to ensure adherence to company standards and safe driving practices.
- Plan, supervise, and direct daily fleet operations, including truck allocation, driver dispatch, journey tracking, and asset readiness.
- Collaborate with the clearance and customer service teams to meet delivery schedules and customer expectations.
- Collaborate with maintenance team preventive maintenance programs and coordinate with the maintenance team to minimize vehicle breakdowns and downtime.
- Maintain accurate records of fuel usage, and regulatory compliance.
- Recommend and implement strategies for cost savings, fleet upgrades, and technology improvements.
- Comply with Health, Safety and Environmental regulations and rules.
Job Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
- 10-15 years of Experience, with Minimum 5 years of experience in fleet or transportation management, preferably in a logistics or distribution environment.
- Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance, transport regulations, routing software, and safety standards.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and fleet management systems.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Experience managing a large-scale commercial fleet (e.g., container trucks, long-haul transport, delivery vehicles).
- Working knowledge of logistics systems and GPS/telematics platforms.
- Understanding of fuel optimization and environmental impact strategies.
