Overview:
We are seeking a highly organized and safety-conscious Yard Manager to oversee the daily operations of receiving and dispatching earthmoving equipment and cranes into our central workshop. The successful candidate will be responsible for allocating maintenance bays, managing service cranes and forklifts for various jobs, and ensuring the effective utilization of space, tools, and equipment. This role is critical in maintaining our commitment to safety standards while optimizing operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the daily receiving and dispatching of earthmoving equipment and cranes.
- Allocate maintenance bays effectively to ensure timely servicing of equipment.
- Oversee the deployment of service cranes and forklifts for various operational tasks.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations by conducting regular audits and training programs.
- Optimize space management within the yard to enhance workflow efficiency.
- Develop lifting plans (cranage) as required, ensuring all operations meet safety standards.
- Maintain an exceptional safety record by implementing best practices in workshop safety.
Job Requirements
Required Skills and Qualifications:

- High-level planning and organizational skills to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven track record of maintaining an exceptional safety record with a deep understanding of safety protocols related to heavy equipment and cranes.
- Working knowledge of transport legislation and regulations relevant to yard operations.
- Understanding of vehicle turning circles and maneuvering capabilities specific to large earthmoving equipment and cranes (Essential).
- Ability to generate, assess, and implement lifting plans (cranage) with possession of a rigger license (Essential).
- Valid crane ticket (Essential) along with a forklift license (Preferred).
