Role Summary:
The IT Operations Specialist is responsible for managing IT service desk operations, coordinating IT procurement, and overseeing the full lifecycle of IT assets. The role supports efficient onboarding and offboarding workflows, ensures documentation and tagging of assets, and maintains audit readiness. This position is crucial to upholding operational excellence and IT compliance across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
1. IT Service Desk Management
- Handle daily IT support requests, incidents, and service tickets.
- Prioritize and escalate technical issues to the appropriate internal or external teams.
- Monitor ticketing system performance and provide reports on service metrics.
- Maintain knowledge base articles and self-service resources.
2. IT Procurement & Vendor Coordination
- Manage procurement cycles for IT hardware, software, and services.
- Liaise with vendors to obtain quotes, negotiate terms, and track deliveries.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases and ensure alignment with budget and policies.
3. IT Asset Management
- Maintain up-to-date inventory of all IT assets, including hardware, software licenses, and peripherals.
- Oversee tagging, allocation, movement, and decommissioning of IT assets.
- Ensure accurate documentation of asset lifecycle activities.
4. Onboarding & Offboarding Support
- Prepare and deploy IT equipment for new employees (laptops, phones, access credentials).
- Coordinate with HR and managers to ensure smooth offboarding and asset return.
- Support account provisioning/deprovisioning across systems and platforms.
5. Compliance & Audit Readiness
- Ensure IT operations are aligned with internal policies and external audit requirements.
- Participate in periodic IT audits by preparing documentation and responding to findings.
- Promote and enforce IT governance best practices.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 2–3 years of experience in IT operations, service desk support, or asset management.
