Job Summary:
The Retail Leasing Team Leader oversees a team of leasing specialists and is responsible for driving leasing performance across a portfolio of retail properties. This leadership role involves developing leasing strategies, mentoring staff, building strong tenant and broker relationships, and ensuring the achievement of occupancy and revenue targets. The ideal candidate brings deep market knowledge, strong negotiation skills, and a proven ability to lead and deliver results in a fast-paced retail environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Strategy:
- Lead, mentor, and manage the leasing team, setting performance goals and ensuring high execution standards.
- Develop and implement strategic leasing plans aligned with company objectives and market conditions.
- Conduct regular team meetings to monitor leasing activity, pipeline status, and goal achievement.
- Support training and professional development of leasing staff to enhance team capabilities.
Leasing & Tenant Relations:
- Oversee and guide lease negotiations with national, regional, and local retailers.
- Foster and maintain strong relationships with key tenants, brokers, and stakeholders.
- Approve lease terms, incentives, and tenant mix proposals in collaboration with senior management.
Market Analysis & Business Development:
- Monitor retail market trends, competitor activity, and tenant movements to inform leasing strategy.
- Identify potential tenants and proactively engage in business development activities.
- Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and networking functions.
Reporting & Financials:
- Track and report on leasing metrics, occupancy levels, and revenue targets.
- Review and analyze lease proposals, financial models, and occupancy forecasts.
- Ensure lease documentation, LOIs, and deal sheets are accurately maintained and compliant.
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Business, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum 4-5 years of experience in retail leasing, including at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Proven track record of lease negotiation and achieving occupancy targets.
- Strong understanding of retail real estate markets, tenant mix planning, and financial lease analysis.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Real Estate License (as required by local jurisdiction) is preferred.
