Job Description

 

Purpose of the Position:

Develop and implement communication strategies and fundraising campaigns –locally and globally- that helps the Foundation to build strong relationship with its stakeholders.

 

 

Major Responsibilities 

  • Develop and maintain effective systems for tracking and planning fundraising, ensuring these are consistent with DI’s operational requirements and policies
  • Support the development and implementation of the organizational strategy 
  • Provide administration and logistical support to ongoing project work General responsibilities 
  • Assign duties to every member of the fundraising staff and periodically review those duties to make sure they are all progressing accordingly
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of specific events and advertising campaigns to determine which ones work well and which ones should be abandoned
  • Attend special events put on by the non-profit, which can include parties or charity events, and speak with guests about the advantages of the organization
  • Prepare budgets every quarter to determine what the fundraising department’s needs are going to be
  • Formulate policies with the board of directors and sit in on meetings to help decide the overall direction of the non-profit
  • Writing and presenting proposals 
  • Research and approach agencies that could potentially make grants 
  • Develop relationship with major donors,
  •  Attending conferences and forums 
  •  
  • Plan fundraising initiatives to help the organization meet financial goals.
  • Form strong relationships with external stakeholders.
  • Ensure major donors are satisfied and kept in the loop.
  • Define key performance indicators for each communication channel which will indicate a campaign level of success.

Job Requirements

  • At least three years of experience as a manager in fundraising , sales, or marketing
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to lead and motivate colleagues and volunteers
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Passion for research
  • Ability to successfully balance priorities while managing multiple tasks and planning big events
  • Preferred skills and qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in communications, business, public relations, or a related field
  • Certification, diploma, or similar qualification in fundraising (preferred)
  • Competence with donor management systems
  • Experience in writing grant proposals, press releases, and fundraising letters
  • Confidence in public speaking
