Job Summary:
The Foreign Purchasing Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the complete foreign purchasing cycle, from the issuance of purchase orders to the final delivery of goods in our warehouses. This role requires extensive knowledge of international trade, import documentation, customs regulations, and freight logistics, with a particular emphasis on Egyptian import procedures, including Cargo X and Nafeza. The ideal candidate will be a proactive, detail-oriented individual with a proven track record of successful foreign procurement operations and strong negotiation skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and execute the entire foreign purchasing cycle, ensuring timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods from international suppliers.
- Review and process purchase requisitions, prepare purchase orders (POs), and ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies.
- Monitor supplier performance to ensure adherence to quality standards and delivery timelines.
- Expertly handle all import documentation, including but not limited to commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, and other necessary permits and licenses.
- Proficiently navigate and manage all aspects of Egyptian import and customs regulations, including proven experience with Cargo X and Nafeza platforms.
- Coordinate and manage freight forwarding processes for both sea and air shipments, including booking, tracking, and ensuring efficient customs clearance.
- Liaise effectively with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and other third-party logistics providers to ensure smooth and timely delivery of goods.
- Track and manage shipments from ex-works/FOB to final delivery at the warehouse, resolving any issues or delays that may arise.
- Ensure all imported goods comply with local regulations and quality standards.
- Maintain accurate records of all purchasing activities, import documentation, and supplier communications.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements in the foreign purchasing process.
- Prepare regular reports on purchasing activities, supplier performance, and import status.
- Stay updated on international trade regulations, customs laws, and market trends.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with various departments, including warehousing, finance, and sales, to ensure seamless operations.
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, International Trade, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of proven experience in foreign purchasing, with a demonstrable track record of handling complete purchasing cycles from PO issuance to warehouse delivery.
- Essential: Proven expertise and hands-on experience with Egyptian import and customs regulations, specifically Cargo X and Nafeza.
- In-depth knowledge of international shipping terms (Incoterms).
- Solid understanding of import documentation, customs clearance procedures, and freight forwarding (sea and air).
- Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and service providers.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Specialized certifications in Supply Chain Management (e.g., CSCP, CPIM), International Trade, or Customs Brokerage.
- Experience with ERP systems for purchasing and inventory management.
