Job Description
- Monitors the logistics process on a regular basis to ensure quality, efficiency and successful delivery ( paper cycles e.g. B/L , Certificate of origin, invoices , packing list etc,,)
- Develops policies, procedures, guidelines and standards related to the logistics functions.
- Prioritizes, coordinates, and allocates work assignments to staff, and resolves day-to-day staffing problems and issues.
- Coordinates with the Sales function to prioritize shipment of finished goods.
- Coordinates with the Warehousing & the purchasing departments the shipping schedule and preparation of finished goods for shipment.
- Follows up with shippers/local transporters the status of finished goods shipped/transported to customers and confirms arrival and receipt with customers.
- Follows up with the shipping lines and Clearance Brokers of goods in transit for export
- Coordinates with local transporters/shippers to implement corrective actions in case of return of finished goods.
- Coordinates with the Accounting function in order to issue billing and reflect in Receivables.
- Ensures the existence of the correct shipping documents, the correct arrivals/departure of the requested materials/finished goods (in terms of quality, quantity, specs, and time), and the customs clearance of the materials/finished goods.
- Coordinates with customers shipping dates and modes of transportation.
- Reports all finished goods that has been damaged for insurance purposes
- Maintains and updates database of all shippers and transporters (Sea and land).
- Maintains and updates database of Clearance Brokers.
- Assesses transporters, shippers and Clearance Brokers’ quality/value of service pertaining to timeliness, promptness and other quality of service measures such as cost and losses level.
- Evaluates freight offers for export shipment in order to select the best transporter.
- Monitors and reduces losses related to shipping and distribution, i.e. damages, accidents and demurrages.
- Ensures that all the Logistics expenses are within the range of the departmental budget.
