Job Description
About the role
The Sales Engineer plays a critical role in supporting Sales and Business Development teams across the Middle East, Africa, Central Asia, and India, providing technical expertise throughout the sales capture cycle.
The role focuses on shaping customer requirements, developing tailored solutions, and driving opportunities from concept to capture in alignment with AOP targets.
This position supports multiple areas including Tactical Communications (TCOM), Broadband Communication Systems (BCS), Integrated Vision Solutions (IVS), SATCOM, and Large-Scale Systems (such as C4I programs).
The Sales Engineer engages at the earliest stages of the sales process, working alongside Account Managers or independently to define requirements, provide technical consultation, deliver demonstrations, and translate customer challenges into differentiated system solutions.
The role also serves as a technical liaison between regional teams and L3Harris engineering, product management, and proposal organizations in the U.S.
It requires significant regional travel to meet customers, conduct demonstrations, and support business development initiatives.
Essential Functions
Engage with customers independently or with Sales/BD teammates to capture requirements and understand challenges.
Translate customer problems into opportunities by architecting solutions that leverage L3Harris’ communications systems and capabilities.
Develop and deliver technical proposals, presentations, and white papers that clearly articulate value to customers.
Provide input on level of effort, cost, and feasibility to support opportunity qualification and budget alignment.
Contribute to the Sales Capture Gate Process and support preparation of RFI/RFP responses.
Lead or support the design and execution of complex demonstrations, including demo planning, customer engagement, and technical oversight.
Collaborate with Product and Systems Engineering teams to translate requirements into solutions and architectures.
Maintain strong awareness of product roadmaps and emerging technologies through regular engagement with Product Management.
Provide technical guidance and support to internal teams, channel partners, and customers as needed.
Support Account Managers in developing country strategies and account plans.
Preferred Additional Skills
Strong tactical IP networking skills.
Minimum 3 years of systems engineering experience in the defense industry or military service.
Experience with Night Vision Devices, Tactical Data Links (e.g., Link 16), or CDL Waveforms.
Strong interpersonal skills and customer focus, with the ability to perform under pressure in high-stakes demonstrations.
Experience drafting system architectures and block diagrams.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to quickly assess issues and drive resolution.
Team-oriented, ethical, and results-driven mindset.
Self-starter with the initiative to achieve results independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
