Job Description

Job Summary
The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for the oversight and management of the hospital’s supply chain operations. This role ensures the efficient procurement, storage, and distribution of medications, medical supplies and equipment, maintaining optimal inventory levels, and supporting the hospital's commitment to patient care and safety.

 

Scope of Work
The Supply Chain Manager will work cross functionally with various departments within the hospital, including finance, sales & marketing, supportive functions, and clinical staff. The role involves strategic planning, vendor management, contract management, and the implementation of best practices to enhance the supply chain's effectiveness and efficiency.

 

Principal Accountability
- Develop and implement supply chain strategies that align with the hospital’s operational goals.

- Ensure the continuous availability of medications, medical supplies and equipment.

- Optimize inventory levels to reduce costs and prevent stockouts or overstock situations.

- Foster and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors.

- Establish an effective contractual framework for the highest service level.

 

Key Responsibilities
1. Procurement Management:

  - Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers.

  - Evaluate and select vendors based on quality, cost, and reliability.

  - Ensure timely and accurate purchase orders and delivery schedules.

 

2.  Inventory Management:

  - Monitor and manage inventory levels to maintain optimal stock.

  - Implement inventory management systems and processes.

  - Conduct regular inventory audits and cycle counts.

 

3.  Warehouse Management :

  - Coordinate the storage and distribution of medications, medical supplies and equipment.

  - Ensure efficient and timely delivery of supplies to various hospital departments.

  - Oversee logistics operations and manage transportation logistics.

 

4. Supplier Relationship Management:

  - Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.

  - Conduct supplier performance evaluations and address any issues.

  - Collaborate with vendors to resolve supply chain disruptions.

 

5. Contract Management:

  - Responsible for the contractual agreements for all services and products. This involves negotiating contracts, supplier & contract evaluation to ensure that services and goods are supplied in compliance with hospital policies and regulations.

 

6. Cost Management:

  - Monitor and control supply chain costs.

  - Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement cost-reduction initiatives.

  - Prepare and manage the supply chain budget.

 

 

7. Team Leadership and Development:

  - Lead, mentor, and develop the supply chain team.

  - Foster a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.

  - Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback.

Job Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or a related field.

- Minimum of 5 years of experience in supply chain management, preferably in the healthcare sector.

- Strong knowledge of procurement, inventory management, and logistics of healthcare.

- Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership skills.

- Proficiency in supply chain management software and tools.
