Job Description
Position Overview: The Solar Sites Manager is responsible for overseeing the development, installation, operation, and maintenance of solar power sites. This role requires managing all site activities, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety, regulatory, and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Site Development & Planning:
- Manage the planning, design, and construction of solar energy projects.
- Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and project management teams to ensure successful project execution.
- Conduct site assessments and feasibility studies to evaluate the suitability of locations for solar installations.
- Oversee permits, licenses, and regulatory compliance for each project.
Project Management:
- Lead the day-to-day operations of solar installation sites, ensuring alignment with project timelines and budget constraints.
- Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery of equipment and services.
- Develop project schedules, oversee resource allocation, and ensure adherence to milestones.
- Monitor and report on the project’s progress, identifying potential delays and risks, and implementing solutions.
Team Leadership & Coordination:
- Supervise and manage on-site personnel, including solar technicians, engineers, and contractors.
- Provide guidance and training to the site team on safety, equipment, and operational best practices.
- Foster a collaborative environment to ensure the effective execution of all solar site activities.
Quality Control & Safety Management:
- Ensure that the installation and operation of solar power systems meet quality and safety standards.
- Enforce adherence to safety protocols and industry regulations, mitigating risks on-site.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards and quality checks.
Operations & Maintenance:
- Oversee the ongoing maintenance and operational efficiency of solar sites once operational.
- Identify and troubleshoot any technical issues that may arise and coordinate with maintenance teams for resolutions.
- Monitor system performance and implement optimization measures to enhance energy production.
Budgeting & Cost Control:
- Develop and manage budgets for solar site projects.
- Monitor costs throughout the lifecycle of the project and implement cost-saving measures where possible.
- Review and approve invoices from contractors, vendors, and service providers.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Serve as the main point of contact for clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies related to the solar sites.
- Ensure regular communication with internal teams, clients, and external partners to keep them informed of project status.
- Address and resolve any concerns or issues raised by stakeholders.
Sustainability & Environmental Responsibility:
- Ensure that all solar projects are executed with a strong focus on environmental sustainability.
- Comply with environmental regulations and implement best practices for reducing the environmental impact of solar sites.
Job Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Renewable Energy, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
Certifications (Optional but Preferred):
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Certification in solar installation or solar energy systems (e.g., NABCEP Certified).
Experience:
- Proven experience (5+ years) in managing solar energy projects or operations, including site management, installation, and maintenance.
- Previous experience in project management, including scheduling, budgeting, and cost control.
- Familiarity with solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, site assessments, and industry standards.
Technical Skills:
- In-depth understanding of solar power systems, electrical systems, and energy generation.
- Knowledge of construction and commissioning processes for solar installations.
- Familiarity with relevant software and tools for project management and solar monitoring (e.g., PVsyst, AutoCAD, MS Project).
Soft Skills:
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and technical troubleshooting skills.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
