Job Description
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of Purchasing to ensure sales operations are not interrupted.
- Negotiate and secure the best possible prices, payment terms and contracts with suppliers
- Establish priorities, assign workload and review the more difficult and complex assignments within the functions.
- Continually review and analyze stock and operational plans for ensuring adequate stock availability of all products.
- Plan forecast expenditure and contingency plan to avoid out of stock items
- Identify and propose continuous improvements and efficiencies in the to increase the Company's overall competitiveness.
- Supervising the Demand & Supply function and reviewing prepared forecasts for fresh produce, stock allocations to outlets, and avoid wastage and expired products.
- Participate in daily, weekly and monthly meetings including preparation of reports / KPIs against set targets.
- Conducting risk analysis and executing procurement strategies that maximize Company working capital and reduce price variances.
- Ensure that import/export activities comply with company’s policy as well as with local and international law and Egyptian regulation.
- Develop, implement, and monitor procurement activities required for the timely and efficient sales operation.
- Keep management team informed on procurement management strategy goal achievement progress.
- Develop, lead and execute purchasing strategies
- Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
- Craft negotiation strategies and close deals with optimal terms
- Partner with stakeholders to ensure clear requirements documentation
- Forecast price and market trends to identify changes of balance in buyer-supplier power
- Perform cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking
- Assess, manage and mitigate risks
- Seek and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers
- Determine quantity and timing of deliveries
- Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand
- Develop and implement purchasing strategies to optimize procurement efficiency.
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers of agricultural products and materials.
- Negotiate contracts and terms of purchase to secure the best prices and quality.
- Monitor market trends and pricing to make informed purchasing decisions.
- Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., production, finance) to forecast purchasing needs.
- Maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and quality standards.
- Manage inventory levels and ensure compliance with purchasing policies.
- Prepare and maintain purchasing reports and documentation for management review.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- 8 to 12 years of proven experience in purchasing, preferably in the agriculture sector.
- Solid Experience Fresh Fruits and Vegetables is a must.
- Solid proven experience in Quality Management and Procurement of agriculture corps.
- Experience in local & foreign purchasing.
- Proven working experience as Purchasing Manager.
- Familiarity with sourcing and supplier management.
- Interest in market dynamics along with business sense.
- A knack for negotiation and networking.
- Working experience of vendor management software.
- Ability to gather and analyse data and to work with figures.
- Solid judgement along with decision making skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage large, multi-disciplinary teams in challenging environments.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in written.
- Proven solid analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent writing and verbal skills in English is required.
