About the role

The Senior Logistics Officer is responsible for managing logistics and customer services, directing, optimizing, and coordinating full order cycle, liaising and negotiating with suppliers, manufacturers, retailers, and consumers, keeping track of quality, quantity, delivery times, and efficiency, resolving any arising problems or complaints, meeting cost, productivity, accuracy and timeliness targets., maintaining metrics and analyzing data to assess performance and implement improvements.

Key Responsibilities

• Update stakeholders (internal/external) on the status of their shipments in transit.
• Manage efficiently the interface and relationship with suppliers.
• Place purchase orders with all suppliers.
• Manage all activities related to the shipments from suppliers (air/land/sea), and supervise the logistics or shipments, including imports, exports from local suppliers, and cross trade with short lead time and optimum cost.
• Create operational procedures and method statements.
• Develop reports on material/products and personnel movements and various operational logistics problems.
• Communicate effectively with clients and responding to their requirements.
• Ensure quality control and safety of goods, and decide on the goods inbound flow to the warehouses.
• Manage and improve relationships with vendors with regular meetings and visits.
• Ensure closing of all inbound logistics transactions by month-end with proper supporting documents and invoices.
• Negotiate rates with existing & new transporters, freight forwarders, clearing agents, service providers.
• Ensure zero or minimum demurrage charges/fines/claims.
• Ensure that entire operations are complying with the local rules and regulations and with the company’s internal requirements.
• Place & finalize all shipments on Nafeza (customs system in Egypt)
• Build and improve logistics procedures and set guidelines to improve the effectiveness of the entire logistics (timely delivery, cost reduction, quality control) and provide timely suggestions to the management.
• Identify issues, handle complaints and improve internal logistics procedures to minimize time and expenses for delivery and documentation and to improve customer service.
• Coordinate with IT, credit, accounts & sales teams to ensure smooth flow of work.
• Coordinate with QC. Department to Finalize all tasks related to ISO system which related to purchasing…etc.
• Take measures (like consolidation of shipments, managing terms of delivery, etc.) to reduce expenses.
• Follow up on shipping dates.
• Coordinate with the customs broker for clearance activities and ensuring that the original shipping documents delivered before the shipment arrives.
• Prepare customs duties checks in coordination with the accounting team.
• Guarantee of on-time payment for different service providers (freight forwarders, insurance company, and customer broker).
• Responsible for issuing weekly report for shipment status.
