Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide advanced Structural engineering expertise to all design team & Define design requirements for the projects criteria and standards based on local laws, international standards, and project requirements.
- Setting the engineering conditions and foundations on which the design will be built to ensure that it is compatible with the needs of the client and the objectives of the project.
- Prepare and document engineering calculations (such as loads, stresses, and other factors) related to the project.
- Provide accurate reports to stakeholders to review and understand technical details.
- Lead the review and evaluation of Structural designs, specifications, and plans to ensure technical accuracy and feasibility.
- Offer innovative solutions to complex Structural engineering problems and provide guidance on best practices for building Structural system & detect any errors or potential design improvements before adopting it.
- Improve and develop the design based on the observations or changes required during the project phases.
- Develop advanced Structural engineering designs for complex building projects choosing the best structural systems and assisting in the preparation of project proposals, budgets and schedules.
- Ensure clarity of all component parts of the design team to facilitate the implementation process & Ensure Structural designs integrate seamlessly with architectural, structural, and MEP (Structural, Electrical, and Plumbing) systems.
- Communicate with members of the design team to ensure compatibility and integration between different disciplines to solve technical issues and apply best practices and
- Ensure the actual implementation of designs in a correct manner.Review the stages of teamwork to ensure that project objectives are achieved efficiently.
- Communicate with engineers responsible for estimating quantities and costs to ensure that the design is economically practical & Arrange and facilitate meetings for the design team with suppliers and technical advisors to discuss project requirements and technical details.
- Review and interpret building codes, regulations, and standards to ensure project designs meet all legal and safety requirements.
- Coordinate with suppliers and technical advisors to obtain necessary information, materials, and support for Structural engineering aspects of projects.
- Develop and implement quality control processes to ensure project deliverables meet the highest standards.
- Distribute tasks and follow up on work progress with the structural team members to ensure adherence to schedules and standards & conduct regular reviews and audits of Structural Designs to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
- Quality assurance of the final design before its approval.
- Inspect the small details of the design to make sure it is accurate and there are no errors.
- Provide regular updates to senior management on Structural engineering progress, technical issues, and compliance matters.
- Prepare advanced Structural engineering reports, documentation, and presentations to support project planning and decision-making.
- Participate in periodic meetings to discuss challenges and progress of the project.
- Identify opportunities for technical improvement and innovation in Structural engineering designs and processes.
- Stay updated on the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices to continually enhance project quality and efficiency.
- Mentor and guide junior Structural engineers, providing constructive feedback and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Identify training and development needs within the team and provide opportunities for professional growth.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to junior team members
Job Requirements
Qualification:
- Master’s degree in structural Engineering.
- Professional certification or licensure in structural engineering is advantageous.
- LEED certification is preferred.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in structural engineering design, with significant experience in design development and detailed design.
- Extensive experience working on mega projects and complex projects, including high-rise buildings, healthcare facilities, and hotels.
- Significant experience gained within an engineering consultancy.
Skills:
- Proven track record of project design from concept to detailed stages.
- Ability to review and make amendments within AutoCAD and Revit.
- Fully conversant with Microsoft Office and general civil calculation software packages such as IES.
- Working knowledge and understanding of American, British, European, and deep knowledge of international structural standards and building codes.
