Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to contribute to the design, integration, and development of bearing compartments and oil systems for turbojet and turbofan development programs.
The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in rotating machinery, lubrication systems, and thermal management within high-performance aerospace propulsion systems.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the conceptual and detailed design of bearing compartments, oil distribution systems, scavenge systems, and related hardware.
Collaborate with structural, aerothermal, and rotating hardware teams to integrate bearing and oil system components into the engine architecture.
Support engine assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of oil and bearing systems.
Define and support rig and engine-level test plans for lubrication and thermal systems.
Create and maintain technical documentation, including CAD models, drawings, and interface control documents.
Support configuration reviews and product lifecycle management.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and cross-functional teams.
Experience And Education
B.S.
in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (M.S.
or Ph.D.
preferred).
7+ years of experience in turbomachinery design, with specific expertise in bearing compartments and oil/lubrication systems.
Hands-on experience with tools such as ANSYS, CFD, thermal analysis software, and CAD platforms (e.g., Siemens NX, CATIA).
Familiarity with industry standards such as ASME, API, SAE, and MIL-SPEC.
Key Skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration capabilities.
Knowledge of engine test procedures and failure investigation techniques.
Experience with aero-engine development programs (military or commercial).
Understanding of system-level integration between lubrication systems, seals, and bearing loads.
Familiarity with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tools and methods.
