Mechanical Design Engineer - Vending machines

We are looking for a highly skilled and innovative Mechanical Design Engineer to join our fast-growing team and take a leading role in designing next-generation smart vending machines. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on problem solver with a deep understanding of mechanical design principles, automation integration, and local manufacturing ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and develop efficient, compact, and reliable mechanical systems for smart vending machines from concept to production.

Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and 2D technical drawings using advanced CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, or equivalent).

Integrate mechanical components with electrical, electronic, and automation systems to ensure seamless operation.

Optimize designs for cost-efficiency, manufacturability, and scalability using DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and DFA (Design for Assembly) principles.

Select appropriate materials, components, and actuators (linear, rotary, pneumatic, etc.) based on functional requirements and market availability.

Collaborate with suppliers, fabrication workshops, and component vendors in Egypt to source parts, validate designs, and manage prototyping and production timelines.

Conduct tolerance stack-up analysis, stress simulations (FEA), and thermal management evaluations.

Work closely with the R&D, electrical, and software teams to deliver integrated, IoT-enabled vending systems.

Oversee prototype fabrication, assembly testing, and troubleshooting of design issues.

Continuously improve existing designs for performance, reliability, energy efficiency, and user experience.

Required Qualifications & Competencies:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics (Master’s degree is a plus).

Minimum 5 years of proven experience in mechanical design (preferably in vending machines, kiosks, automation equipment, or similar electromechanical systems).

Strong expertise in CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, CATIA, etc.) and PDM systems.

Sound understanding of sheet metal design, plastics, extrusion, machining, and fabrication techniques.

Familiarity with thermal design, motor and actuator selection, enclosure design, and ingress protection standards (IP ratings).

Hands-on knowledge of FEA, CFD, motion simulation, and prototyping tools.

Exposure to IoT integration, sensor placement, and user interface ergonomics is a strong advantage.

Strong knowledge of Egyptian industrial suppliers and fabrication workshops—ability to source and negotiate locally.

Ability to read and interpret electrical and pneumatic schematics is a plus.

Excellent communication and documentation skills.
