Job Description
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Lead and perform power system analysis such as load flow, short-circuit analysis, motor starting, and harmonic analysis.
- Lead and perform protection coordination for power systems, ensuring proper system design and fault protection.
- Use ETAP or equivalent software to simulate and analyze electrical networks, identifying areas for optimization and improvement.
- Develop protection schemes and settings for HV/MV substations, ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
- Provide technical expertise and support in the selection and application of protection relays, control schemes, and fault detection systems.
- Lead and perform major equipment sizing and production of Power Generation & Distribution Engineering drawings / documents (equipment lists, SLDs, load schedules, cable schedules)
- Review and evaluate electrical system designs for consistency, reliability, and efficiency.
- Prepare technical reports and documentation for internal stakeholders and clients.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers, ensuring adherence to engineering standards and best practices.
- Identify any concerns during design process and report to Lead Electrical Engineer
Job Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering – Electrical Power Major. A Higher Degree (Master’s, PhD) is a Plus.
- 5+ years of experience in protection coordination and power system analysis (load flow, short-circuit, motor starting, transient stability, harmonics…etc.). Experience with Power Plants or HV substations is preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of international codes & standards, and industry regulations (IEC, IEEE, NEC, etc.).
- Proficiency in using ETAP. Experience with PSCAD, DIgSILENT, PSS®E is a plus
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Experience with international projects and multi-cultural environments is a plus.
