Job Description
Develop, review, and approve protection schemes and relay coordination studies for substations, transmission, and distribution networks.
Ensure compliance with IEC, IEEE, and local utility standards.
Supervise and perform protection relay testing, configuration, and commissioning.
Lead troubleshooting of faults and mis operations in protection systems.
Support preventive and corrective maintenance of protection systems.
Analyze system disturbances and issue reports with recommendations.
Review protection-related designs, drawings, and vendor documents.
Coordinate with engineering consultants, contractors, and utility companies.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.
Conduct training on relay testing, settings, and protection principles.
Ensure all protection systems meet safety, reliability, and quality standards.
Participate in audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (Power Systems preferred).
8–12 years of relevant experience in protection and control systems.
Strong knowledge of transmission and distribution protection systems (distance, differential, overcurrent, etc.).
Hands-on experience with protection relays (Siemens, ABB, Schneider, GE, SEL, etc.).
Proficiency in protection coordination software (ETAP, DigSILENT, CYME, or similar).
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong leadership, communication, and reporting abilities.
