Job Description
- The Technical Office Section head will hold the responsibility for and management of all design reviews, processes, and procedures. Manage and Lead a multi-disciplinary engineering and design review team for project construction. Coordinate and liaise with stake holders on all projects related budgets, managerial & design review decisions during the project’s life cycle.
- Liaise between the construction and engineering teams ensuring the harmony between engineering team requirements and construction team deliverables
- Attend progress meetings, discuss and suggest technical proposals
- Review and approve shop drawing submittals.
- Review and approve material approval request and method of statement according to project specs.
- Take part in the project management review and risk management review
- Review and resolve project document issues/conditions.
- Provide technical & administrative information to the others working on a project to ensure that the work complies with all engineering standards, codes, specifications, and design instruction
- Adopt a proactive approach to value engineering throughout the engineering phase
- Review and supervise the shop drawings and Mechanical coordination.
- Maintaining organized and detailed project records.
- Studying and understanding of tender(s) / opportunities(s) requirements.
- Checking completeness of the tender(s) / opportunities(s) documents.
- Preparing clarifications issues to be sent to client for the missing, contradicting and confusing issues related to the tender / opportunity requirements.
- Preparing design documents and systems & equipment sizing and creating BOQ’s for the design and build tenders / opportunities.
- Reviewing and validating the design documents and systems & equipment sizing and BOQ’s for the pre-designed tenders / opportunities and conducting quantity surveying(s) for the lump-sump items.
- Receiving and evaluating suppliers, manufacturers and subcontractor’s technical & financial offers and checking compliance with the tender / opportunities requirements.
- Negotiating the technical and financial issues of the offers received from suppliers, manufacturers and subcontractor.
Job Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in software such as AutoCAD, and Revit MEP is preferable.
- Experience: Minimum of 12 years in technical roles focusing on MEP design and shop drawing processes, preferably in HVAC, Plumbing, Fire, Compressed Air, and Steam Network.
- Communication: Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with teams and stakeholders.
- Preferably have an experience or exposure to MEP systems and design processes.
- Preferably have an additional certifications or training related to Mechanical such as HVAC, firefighting, and Plumbing systems are advantageous
