Job Description

As a Material Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the material selection process, ensuring alignment with design objectives and project requirements. This position involves preparing proposals, managing budgets, issuing purchase orders, and cultivating strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.

Your responsibilities will encompass the following key areas:

Material Selection:

  • Make recommendations for material selection based on design objectives, ensuring alignment with project specifications.
  • Collaborate with design teams to understand project requirements and contribute expertise to the material selection process.

Proposal and Budget Preparation:

  • Prepare comprehensive proposals and budgets for required materials, outlining specifications and cost estimates.
  • Conduct thorough market research to ensure accurate budgeting and propose cost-effective material alternatives.

Purchase Order Issuance:

  • Issue purchase orders for the procurement of materials, maintaining meticulous records of orders and deliveries.
  • Implement a streamlined procurement process, optimizing efficiency and reducing lead times.

Proposal Evaluation:

  • Evaluate and analyze technical and financial proposals presented by suppliers and subcontractors before submission for approval.
  • Develop evaluation criteria to assess proposals, considering both technical and financial feasibility.

Approval Follow-up:

  • Follow up on the approval of proposals and material lists, coordinating with relevant stakeholders to expedite the approval process.
  • Implement tracking mechanisms to monitor the status of approvals, ensuring timely project progress.

Contract Negotiation:

  • Negotiate contract conditions with subcontractors and suppliers, aiming for favorable terms and conditions.
  • Collaborate with legal advisors to ensure contract terms align with project and organizational objectives.

Relationship Management:

  • Develop and maintain good relations with suppliers and subcontractors, fostering a collaborative and mutually beneficial working environment.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews of suppliers and subcontractors, addressing any issues proactively.

Job Requirements

To excel in this role, candidates should possess the following qualifications and attributes:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering (Accumulative Grade must not be less than Good.)
  • 3-5 years of experience in material engineering and procurement.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
