Technical Office Engineer – Shop Drawings & Quantity Surveying

2. Job Purpose

To prepare accurate and detailed shop drawings and perform precise quantity surveying tasks, ensuring project execution complies with design, contractual specifications, and quality standards. The role supports project control over quality, time, and cost.

3. Key Responsibilities

3.1 Shop Drawings

- Convert design drawings into clear and accurate shop drawings.
- Coordinate with other disciplines (architectural, structural, MEP) to avoid clashes.
- Prepare detailed sections and layouts for all works.
- Issue As-Built drawings after project completion.

3.2 Quantity Surveying

- Prepare and review Bill of Quantities (BOQ).
- Validate contractor and supplier interim payment certificates.
- Track material consumption and executed quantities.
- Update quantities for variations and change orders.

3.3 Technical Coordination

- Raise RFIs to consultants when design conflicts or ambiguities are detected.
- Review and approve materials and specifications in coordination with procurement.
- Coordinate closely with site engineers to ensure execution matches drawings.

3.4 Reporting & Support

- Prepare weekly reports on shop drawings and quantity progress.
- Support decision-making with accurate technical and financial data.
- Participate in coordination meetings with consultants and site teams.
