POSITION: DENTAL ASSISTANT - AMERICAN HOSPITAL SATELLITE CLINICPOSITION SUMMARY:The Registered Dental Nurse/Assistant is responsible for assisting the dentist in the clinic. The Dental Nurse/Assistant is also responsible for sterilization, preparation and inventory control of dental instruments and supplies.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Serves as dentist’s chair side assistant during dental procedures.Prepares and maintains dental instruments, treatment, supplies and equipment.Exposes and develops dental radiographs and performs independent procedures as delegated and directed by the dentist in accordance with the hospital policies and procedures.Maintains dental department equipment and work areas in compliance with hospital policies and procedures relative to infection control and safety issues, including the sterilization of all reusable dental instruments and equipment and the proper disposal of all contaminated or potentially contaminated materials.Maintains adequate operatory supplies and compiles a list for inventory control and ordering purposes.Keeps accurate records of patient current medical history and dental charting.Monitors patient during Nitrous Oxide sedation in accordance to hospital policies and procedures.Performs oral hygiene instructions.Demonstrates ability to prioritize tasks ensuring effective functioning of the area.Book patient for appointment, procedure, or treatment according to treatment plan.Follow up on patient’s diagnostic tests and coordinate with the dentist for informing patients about their results, treatment, or if a follow up is needed with the dentist.Maintains accurate and thorough documentation as per hospital policies and procedures.Demonstrates delivery of safe and appropriate dental care according to standards of care.Maintains a safe environment for patients, co-workers, visitors and others by following hospital policy in reporting of equipment failures, safety and security issues.Demonstrates effective communication and good customer service skills when interacting with the interdisciplinary team, patients, families and others.Supports the effective functioning of unit routine, i.e., preparation of charts (screening); use of electronic record system, update of patient records and preparation in view of day schedule.Keep consultation rooms stocked and clean prior and after patient has been seen.REQUIREMENTSApplicant must hold current home country License.5-year Doctor of Dental Medicine DegreeMinimum 4 years experience with at least 2 years in Pediatric Dental Speciality.BLS certification.DHA License as Dental Assistant well regarded.* Note : Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted
