Job Description

  • The INGO Forum Coordinator will support the Egypt INGO Forum and governance bodies to ensure the effective and timely flow of information between Forum members and other relevant development and humanitarian actors in Egypt such as UN agencies, local NGOs…, and support Forum member organizations to strengthen their impact among their beneficiaries. 

The main objectives of the assignment are:

  • To coordinate INGO Forum members having different programmatic focus, agendas, and ways of working
  • To liaise with key international and national stakeholders to strengthen the network of contacts of INGO Forum members

The coordinator is expected to work 20 days per month. S/he will be required to regularly attend meetings and do some travel to areas where INGO Forum members work (expected 10% travel). Travel and communication costs will be covered by the Forum members.

Coordination

  • Organize and facilitate Forum Plenary Meetings, Steering Committee Meetings, and the meetings of agreed working groups.
  • Record and disseminate minutes of internal and external meetings to the Forum members
  • Serve as a focal point for the development and coordination of all INGO interagency communications.
  • Maintain an up-to-date database of INGOs (including activities and staff details) and support efforts to expand membership.
  • Supports the Forum in conducting required elections mentioned in INGO Forum ToR.
  • Facilitate improved information sharing and exchange by ensuring that relevant reports, announcements, developments, etc. are circulated to all  INGO Forum members

Liaison and Networking

  • Provide a conduit for the UN agencies, the donor representatives, and other stakeholders to communicate and coordinate with INGOs.
  • Support to forge links between international NGOs and local organizations.
  • Propose comments and inputs on strategic materials produced by the UN, Government of Egypt, and other key stakeholders to be shared with the INGO Forum.
  • Support the drafting of joint statements, letters for official correspondence for approval by the INGO Forum.
  • Contributes to compiling project profiles and case studies for media and advocacy purposes.

Deliverables: Monthly reporting 

The consultant is obliged to respect the following ethical and child protection requirements: 

Conflict of interest: The consultant must demonstrate the necessary independence and declare any conflict of interest and potential biases, including bias towards any of the stakeholders, target groups, types of methodologies or approaches, social, political, or religious prejudice.

Based on rights and ethics: The consultant must respect the rights and dignity of participants as well as comply with relevant ethical standards and Tdh’s Child Safeguarding Policy. The situation analysis must ensure: appropriate, safe, non-discriminatory participation; a process of free and un-coerced consent and withdrawal and confidentiality of participants. The informed consent of each person (including children) participating in data collection should be documented. 

 

Job Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in social sciences, international development, or related technical field.
  • 3 -5 years of experience in Egypt and other Middle East countries.
  • Strong background in working with INGOs and in coordinating or managing a multi-agency forum/consortium.
  • Diplomatic and interpersonal skills a must, ability to build positive relationships in a multi-organizational context.
  • Excellent strategic and analytical skills, including the ability to synthesize and effectively communicate complex issues.
  • Ability to work under pressure and insecure operating environment.
  • Management and leadership experience.
  • Good verbal communication, presentation and networking skills.
  • Language: Fluency in English and Arabic is required.
  • Computer proficiency
