Job Description

Logistics involves the planning, purchasing, and delivering goods and services to customers. Logistics is used broadly to include all aspects of supply chain management, including procurement, inventory control, transportation, warehousing, distribution centers, and customer service.

On the other hand, a logistics job description can be defined as an individual who plans, purchases, and delivers products or services for others. A logistics professional may work in any industry that uses the services of a third-party provider. Examples of sectors where professional logistics works are: retail, wholesale, manufacturing, food processing, pharmaceuticals, telecommunications, utilities, construction, mining, government agencies, etc.

For example, airport cargo job qualifications will vary depending on whether you’re working at a major international airport such as JFK or LAX or a smaller regional airport like OAK or SFO. Cargo jobs at airports require extensive knowledge of airfreight procedures and regulations.

Remember that airport jobs are not always easy; they often involve long hours and stressful situations. However, if you have the right personality traits and skills, you can make it through airport jobs with flying colors.

    

Job Requirements

  • Proven experience as logistics coordinator
  • Experience in customer service will be appreciated
  • Knowledge of laws, regulations and ISO requirements
  • Ability to work with little supervision and track multiple processes
  • Computer-savvy with a working knowledge of logistics software (ERP)
  • Outstanding organizational and coordination abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • BSc/BA in business administration, supply chain management or relevant field

        . Coordinate and monitor supply chain operations

  • Ensure premises, assets and communication ways are used effectively
  • Utilize logistics IT to optimize procedures
  • Recruit and coordinate logistics staff (e.g. truck drivers) according to availabilities and requirements
  • Supervise orders and arrange stocking of raw materials and equipment to ensure they meet needs
  • Communicate with suppliers, retailers, customers etc. to achieve profitable deals and mutual satisfaction
  • Plan and track the shipment of final products according to customer requirements
  • Keep logs and records of warehouse stock, executed orders etc.
  • Prepare accurate reports for upper management
