Job Description
- Provide expert technical guidance and oversight for all mechanical design projects, with a strong focus on HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning), plumbing, and fire protection systems, as well as other building mechanical systems.
- Review and approve mechanical designs, calculations, specifications, and drawings to ensure accuracy, compliance, and constructability.
- Ensure designs meet relevant local and international codes, standards, and client requirements.
- Stay abreast of new technologies, industry trends, and best practices in mechanical engineering.
- Oversee the mechanical scope of projects from conceptual design through construction administration.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Collaborate closely with other engineering disciplines (electrical, structural, Wet utilities, and architects…).
- Participate in project planning, scheduling, and risk management.
- Act as a primary technical point of contact for clients, understanding their needs and ensuring satisfaction.
- Participate in client meetings, presentations, and proposal development.
- Contribute to business development efforts by identifying new opportunities and fostering client relationships.
- Implement and enforce quality control procedures for all mechanical deliverables.
- Ensure all designs comply with regulatory requirements, safety standards, and environmental considerations.
- Drive continuous improvement in design processes, tools, and methodologies.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university. Master's degree is a plus.
- 18+ years of progressive experience in mechanical design within a consultant engineering environment.
- Extensive and demonstrable experience with HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for various building types (e.g., Transportation, commercial, residential, healthcare, and industrial).
- Strong understanding of building codes, energy efficiency standards, and relevant industry regulations, particularly those related to HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection.
- Excellent knowledge of mechanical system components, equipment selection, and material specifications.
- Exceptional leadership, mentoring, and team-building abilities.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly to diverse audiences (clients, colleagues, and contractors).
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
- High level of integrity and professional ethics.
- Experience with sustainable design principles and LEED certification projects.
- PMP (Project Management Professional) certification or equivalent.
- Experience in international projects or working with diverse global teams.
