Job Description
The Technical Office Engineer will be responsible for preparing technical drawings, shop drawings, and fabrication details for aluminum facade and curtain wall systems. The role involves working closely with project managers, architects, and site teams to ensure designs are accurate, compliant with standards, and optimized for fabrication and installation. The ideal candidate will have 2–5 years of experience in aluminum facade systems, proficiency in CAD and SketchUp, and preferably familiarity with Tekla, Orgadata, or similar software.
- Prepare detailed shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and material take-offs for aluminum facade and curtain wall systems.
- Develop 2D and 3D models using CAD and SketchUp to support design and installation processes.
- Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, and project managers to ensure designs meet project specifications and standards.
- Perform calculations for material quantities, structural loads, and thermal performance as required.
- Review and interpret architectural and structural drawings to ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Utilize software such as Tekla, Orgadata, or similar tools for facade system design and detailing (preferred).
- Prepare cutting lists, bills of materials, and production schedules for fabrication teams.
- Conduct quality checks on drawings and documentation to ensure accuracy and adherence to industry standards.
- Provide technical support to site teams during installation, addressing any design-related queries.
- Stay updated on industry trends, materials, and technologies related to aluminum facade systems.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
2–5 years of experience in aluminum facade, curtain wall systems, or window systems design and detailing.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and SketchUp for creating detailed technical drawings and 3D models.
- Experience with Tekla, Orgadata, or similar facade design software is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of aluminum facade systems, curtain walls, and window systems.
- Knowledge of relevant standards and codes (e.g., ASTM, BS, or local building regulations).
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with fabrication and installation processes for facade systems is a plus.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
