Position Description (Industry Partnership Engineer)
The industry partnership engineer is responsible for engaging the community and industry in
the activities of the Sustainable Design Engineering (SDE) Program offered at UPEI Cairo
Campus. The industry partnership engineer reports to the Associate Dean, in Cairo.
Essential Tasks
- Promote and explain the value-added service of the faculty to the clients and potential funding agencies.
- Recruit local and international clients for junior and senior design clinics.
- Manage long-term relationships with clients.
- Conduct technical assessments to identify potential projects that match student capabilities in the junior and senior design clinics.
- Negotiate memorandum of understandings with potential clients, which identify items to be considered in the clinic agreements. Work with legal and other key stakeholders on formal contracts.
- Work with faculty to select and scope the potential projects in the senior and junior design clinics.
- Ensure that students sign, understand, and abide by the non-disclosure agreement with the client.
- Coordinate between the clinic representative and faculty & students in the assignment and implementation of projects to clinic teams to ensure project outcomes and expectations are met.
- Ensure that projects selection is aligned with UPEI and follows the design process as guided by UPEI industry partnership group.
- Service as an account manager and quality assurance for the assessment of assigned project portfolios including post-delivery follows up related to performance assessments/ client surveys and/or future project possibilities.
- Update all records of the industry partners such as the agreement record, implemented projects, project videos, and others.
- Create an updated library for the developed projects.
- Attend monthly meetings with UPEI industry partnership group and record the meeting meetings, follow up on the required actions.
- Report weekly to the associate dean on the progress of the design clinics
- Other tasks as required by the Associate Dean
Job Requirements
Educational Background:
- A degree in Engineering, or a related field.
Experience & Skills:
- Experience in industry engagement, partnership development, or community outreach.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to manage client relationships and coordinate with faculty and students.
- Negotiation skills for drafting and managing memorandums of understanding and contracts.
- Technical assessment skills to identify suitable projects aligning with student capabilities.
- Knowledge of project management and quality assurance processes.
- Ability to maintain records, update databases, and create project libraries.
- Ability to work collaboratively within an academic and industry setting.
- Good organizational and reporting skills, including attending meetings and providing progress updates.
