Job Description
The primary responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
· Conduct research and review to support the drafting of technical regulations, legal memos, guidance documents and other legal instruments to support NFSA’s resolutions to existing and emerging food trade issues.
· Supporting NFSA’s adherence to the WTO, SPS and other international agreements.
· Draft and/or review Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) and cooperation protocols that support the coordination between NFSA and
· Provide translation of technical regulations as necessary.
· Draft scopes of work for consultants to support TAIB’s food policy and regulatory affairs activities.
· Draft and review informational and communication materials for public and private sector stakeholders pertaining to NFSA’s regulatory changes.
· Research effective food regulatory practices and policy documents and provide briefings for TAIB’s management and NFSA.
· Support the development of international regulatory reviews that analyze how Codex and other regulatory agencies regulate food and / or hazards.
· Provide input into the development of project annual work plans and ensure achievement of project goals and targets.
· Ensure that all impact data is properly recorded.
· Other duties as assigned by the Chief of Party or Technical Director.
Job Requirements
Required Skills and Qualifications:
· Bachelor of Science in law or related field.
· Minimum of 2 years’ experience in food policy and/or international trade law.
· Proven knowledge of the food safety sector in Egypt.
· Excellent legal research and drafting capabilities.
· Ability to translate food policy and legal documents from English to Arabic and Arabic to English.
· Demonstrated knowledge of Codex and the WTO.
· Ability to work in a collaborative team environment and strong communication skills.
· Ability to establish priorities and to plan, coordinate and monitor tasks.
· Demonstrated effectiveness in taking initiative and resolving difficult situations.
· Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
· Demonstrated knowledge of the National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) and regulatory food systems in the region.
· Experience in drafting technical regulations or standards related to food.
