Job Description
- Analyze and adjust plating bath chemistry (e.g., zinc ammonium chloride flux, degreasing agents) to maintain optimal conditions for galvanizing.
- Monitor trace elements (e.g., silicon, phosphorus) in steel to predict coating characteristics and mitigate issues like excessive alloy layers or matte-gray finishes.
- Conduct titrations, lab tests, and quality inspections
- Safety and Compliance
- Ensure adherence to environmental regulations (e.g., hazardous waste disposal, emissions) and safety protocols for handling molten zinc and corrosive chemicals.
- Maintain records of chemical usage, waste disposal, and compliance testing.
- Technical Collaboration
- Work with engineers to optimize galvanizing parameters (e.g., bath temperature, immersion time) based on steel composition and surface conditions.
- Advise on steel selection and pre-treatment methods (e.g., abrasive blasting for castings) to improve coating uniformity.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Materials Science, or Chemical Engineering
- Experience: from 1 to 3 years. Corrosion science, or industrial chemistry, preferably in galvanizing or metal finishing.
- Proficiency in titration, pH testing, and lab equipment
- Familiarity with data analysis tools for tracking bath parameters and production metrics.
- Attention to detail, problem-solving, and communication for cross-department collaboration.
