Purpose

The Head of Maintenance is responsible for maintenance and installations as well as repair work on the whole school campus. The Head of Maintenance performs inspections to ensure that all students, staff, and the community are provided a safe, attractive, clean, and healthy environment.

General Responsibilities

• Supervise and line manage all maintenance staff, both school staff and those contracted on a temporary basis
• Conduct continual and ongoing inspections of all facilities to conduct preventive maintenance, not just responding to work orders or end-of-school year reviews
• Assist in the hiring of maintenance staff, providing training as needed
• Organize repair and maintenance schedules for electrical, plumbing, and ventilation systems and others as needed
• Responsible for evaluating problematic systems or facilities and determining repair services to be performed
• Organize staff schedules and assign work activities
• Develop and implement maintenance procedures
• Supervise and evaluate all workers’ performance
• Investigate accidents and prepare relevant reports
• Ensure the ordering and purchasing of needed equipment and supplies through the school’s purchasing procedures and department
• Ensure the property use of all equipment and its safe storage with child safety as the foremost concern
• Coordinate with the Safety and Security Department to ensure a safe campus, responding with urgency to safety concerns
• Liaising and coordinating with relevant local and national authorities as needed for water, electricity, phone, gas, and any other services or utilities
• Development, creation, and oversight of relevant QR codes and other reporting forms
• Operate health and safety equipment as needed and in line with training
• Responsible for building quality, inspects facilities and work areas to eliminate deficiencies and improve facilities effenciey.
• Develop a preventive maintenance plan to  ensure full preventative maintenance is carried out, plan in missed maintenance activities, and lead the team to deliver effectively.

Reporting Line

The Head of Maintenance reports to the Head of Administration.
