Job Description
Responsibilities
- Develop and modify PVC compound formulations based on product requirements, cost targets, and processing capabilities.
- Conduct lab-scale trials and testing to evaluate new raw materials, additives, and formulation changes.
- Monitor and ensure compound performance meets physical, mechanical, and thermal property standards.
- Collaborate with production and quality teams to scale up lab formulas to factory batches with consistent performance.
- Troubleshoot compounding and processing issues related to material behavior, shrinkage, extrusion defects, etc.
- Maintain detailed records of formulations, test results, and material specifications for traceability and continuous improvement.
- Evaluate and qualify new suppliers and alternative raw materials for cost optimization or performance enhancement.
- Stay updated on regulatory and industry standards (e.g., RoHS, REACH) and ensure compounds are compliant.
Guide operators on PVC Compounding Lines to ensure optimal production processes. - Conduct tests on materials to ensure they meet quality and safety standards.
- Work closely with the quality control team to ensure incoming raw materials and finished compounds meet specifications.
- Support the development of special compounds (e.g., magnetic, transparent, food-grade) for specific customer needs.
- Provide technical support to sales, marketing, and customer service for compound-related inquiries or customization requests.
- Participate in R&D projects related to product innovation, sustainability, or cost reduction initiatives.
- Prepare and update MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) and Technical Data Sheets for all compound grades.
- Ensure safe laboratory practices and proper handling of chemicals and equipment.
- Perform regular lab tests on compound batches and provide detailed reports to the Quality Manager.
- Assist the R&D and Chemist Manager in overseeing production processes and resolving any issues.
- Prepare detailed and accurate reports by collecting and analyzing data.
- Collaborate effectively with operators and other team members to optimize production processes.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field.
- 1 to 3 years of experience, including internships in a manufacturing or laboratory setting preferred plastic or PVC manufacturing.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail for conducting tests, analyzing data, and generating accurate reports.
- Proficiency in laboratory techniques and equipment, particularly in testing plastic materials.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with operators.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a manufacturing environment.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word for data entry and report generation.
- Ability to create and update data sheets, MSDS, and other technical documents.
- Familiarity with industry regulations and quality standards.
- Must be a resident of 10th of Ramadan City, Sharqia or willing to relocate to company housing.
- Ability to work in a standing position for extended periods and engage in physical activities such as walking.
- Knowledge of ISO standards and Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Experience in quality control and assurance in a manufacturing setting.
