Job Description

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Instrumentation Engineer to join our engineering team at [MRI], a leading chemical manufacturing company. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in instrumentation, control systems, and automation within a chemical process plant. This role will involve working with ABB 800 Freelance Foundation Fieldbus, DCS systems, and various types of instruments used in chemical manufacturing. The successful candidate will oversee the commissioning, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of field instruments, ensuring that all processes run efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Field Instrumentation & Control Systems:
    • Oversee the commissioning, installation, and maintenance of field instruments within the chemical production plant.
    • Handle various types of instruments, including control valves, field instruments, and monitoring equipment.
    • Utilize ABB 800 Freelance DCS and Delta-V DCS for system programming and troubleshooting.
    • Monitor and calibrate instruments to ensure optimal performance.
  2. Automation Systems & Troubleshooting:
    • Troubleshoot process instruments and process parameters to ensure the proper functioning of the production systems.
    • Perform system updates, modifications, and repairs to improve efficiency and reliability in the automation systems.
    • Collaborate with other engineering teams to resolve complex issues in control systems and instrumentation.
  3. Cable Laying & Junction Box Installation:
    • Supervise and participate in the laying of cables and installation of junction boxes for field instruments.
    • Ensure all installation work adheres to safety and regulatory standards, maintaining a high level of quality control.
  4. Process Optimization & System Improvement:
    • Identify areas for improvement within the automation systems and implement new technologies or processes to optimize performance.
    • Implement and follow ISO working systems and best practices to ensure continuous improvements within the organization.
  5. Collaboration with Cross-functional Teams:
    • Work closely with other engineering teams and production departments to align automation and instrumentation systems with overall production objectives.
    • Support project planning and implementation efforts to ensure timely completion of engineering tasks.
  6. Reporting and Documentation:
    • Maintain accurate records of instrument calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities.
    • Prepare and present reports on system performance and improvements to senior management.
  7. Safety and Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and best practices while working with process instrumentation and automation systems.
    • Address any safety issues related to instrument installations and operations.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  1. Educational Requirements:
    • B.Tech / M.Tech in Instrumentation and Control Engineering from a reputed institution with strong academic achievements.
  2. Experience:
    • A minimum of 5 years of experience in instrumentation and control systems, preferably in a chemical process plant.
    • Extensive hands-on experience with ABB 800 Freelance DCS, Delta-V DCS, and field instruments.
    • Expertise in cabling skills, control valves, and field instrumentation in an industrial environment.
  3. Skills & Knowledge:
    • Strong understanding of DCS programming and control systems, specifically with ABB and Delta-V systems.
    • Proficiency in instrument calibration, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
    • Experience working with chemical manufacturing processes and systems.
  4. Communication Skills:
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
    • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  5. Leadership:
    • Ability to lead and manage fieldwork teams to complete instrumentation and automation tasks efficiently.

  • Age: Maximum 35 years.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail in troubleshooting instrumentation issues.
  • A proactive approach in implementing continuous improvements in processes and systems.
