Role Description

This is a for a Senior Engineer- Fire Protection at Bureau Veritas in KSA.

The Senior Fire Safety Engineer will be lead the design review phase, supervising, ensuring that all fire protection and life safety systems are compliant with applicable regulations and witness of testing various fire suppression and detection systems, ensuring code compliance a

Key Responsibilities

Ø Interpret and enforce local, national, and international fire/life safety codes (e.g., NFPA, SBC, IBC, IFC, FM).
Ø Provide expert technical support to other engineers, architects, and contractors to strengthen fire protection within blueprints.

They create plans for fire detection tools, such as extinguishers, alarm systems sprinklers, fire pumps, and more.

Their work also helps designers evaluate a building’s lifetime safety.

Ø Reviewing project FLS documents, including drawings, specifications, and calculations, to ensure they align with AHJ requirements, code compliance.
Ø Ensure means of egress, fire ratings, occupancy classifications, and systems (e.g., sprinklers, alarms) meet applicable regulations.
Ø Conduct technical reviews of fire protection and life safety plans.
Ø Approve or recommend modifications to submitted designs.
Ø Coordinate with other disciplines and departments (e.g., structural, electrical, civil) for integrated review.
Ø Investigating fire incidents, determining root causes, and providing technical expertise to prevent future occurrences.
Ø Develop and implement fire safety protocols, procedures, and ERP.
Ø Contributing to architectural and urban planning processes to integrate fire safety measures into new developments and historical preservation efforts.
Ø Perform on-site inspections during construction phases to ensure installation aligns with approved designs.
Ø Witness system testing and commissioning (e.g., fire alarm, sprinkler, smoke control).
Ø Identify and document deficiencies or violations, issue correction notices
Ø Investigating deficiencies in buildings and construction sites that could potentially cause fires in the future.

Additionally, the successful candidate will be responsible for determining the causes of recent fires to uncover how they could have been
prevented.

This variety of tasks ensures that the role is dynamic and offers opportunities for growth and development.
Ø Prepare and write reports that outline specific fire prevention topics and procedures.

They review the work performed and provide written updates to key stakeholders.
Ø Incorporating fire safety procedures into designs – such as sprinkler systems, emergency exits, and fire alarms – to minimize the risk of injury and loss of life in the event of a fire, taking into account both the structural integrity of the building and human behavior
Ø Analyses existing protection measures and designs up-to-date fire protection systems
Ø Conducts fire risks and develops appropriate safeguards.
Ø Conduct a comprehensive review of fire and life safety (FLS) strategies by evaluating FLS Basis of Design Reports and Concept Design Reports, analyzing compliance for projects, and examining FLS Technical Design Drawings and Reports.
Ø Conduct site inspections for Certificate of Completion (COC) issuance at completion stages and confirm the Building Completion Certificate (BCC) after final site visits.
Ø Prepare operational and project progress reports

Job Requirements

Requirements And Qualifications

Ø Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Ø Minimum 12 to 18 years’ experience in relevant Position.
Ø Certifications: Professional certification such as CFPS (Certified Fire Protection Specialist) or equivalent is preferred.
Ø Ability to utilize computer technology to access data, maintain records, generate reports, etc.
Ø Strong verbal and written communication skills for training, reporting, and collaboration.
Ø Ability to guide and motivate engineers within the team
Ø Good Leadership skills
