Job Purpose
The Accounting Manager oversees the daily operations of the accounting department, including general ledger maintenance, financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and staff supervision. This role demands strong analytical abilities, keen attention to detail, and effective multitasking skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver accurate, timely financial statements in compliance with GAAP or IFRS.
- Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Ensure all financial reporting deadlines are consistently met.
- Analyze financial data and provide actionable insights to management.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy.
- Verify the completeness and accuracy of all ledger entries.
- Review and approve journal entries in accordance with internal guidelines.
- Contribute to the development of the annual budget and financial forecasts.
- Monitor budget performance and report variances to relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls, policies, and procedures.
- Coordinate and support both internal and external audit activities.
- Stay informed on updates to accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Supervise, mentor, and support accounting team members.
- Facilitate training and development programs for staff growth.
- Conduct performance reviews and manage workload distribution across the team.
- Oversee the accounts payable and receivable functions.
- Ensure timely and accurate invoice processing and payment disbursements.
- Manage the collection of overdue accounts to maintain healthy receivables.
- Monitor cash flow and maintain sufficient liquidity levels.
- Manage banking relationships and oversee treasury operations.
- Administer and optimize accounting systems and related software tools.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or CMA certification preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, and other accounting standards.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated excellence in analytical thinking, organization, and problem-solving.
- Meticulous attention to detail with a strong focus on accuracy.
- Effective communication and building positive interpersonal relationships.
- Capable of working independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
