Job Description
- Financial Strategy & Capital Management: Develop and execute a comprehensive financial strategy aligned with the bank’s growth, capital, and funding needs. Lead the capital raising process, financial modeling, and investor relations during the pre- and post-launch phases. Optimize the balance sheet while ensuring compliance with Shariah principles, including non-interest-bearing liabilities and Islamic investment structures.
- Regulatory & Reporting Compliance: Ensure full compliance with QCB regulations, IFRS accounting standards, and Islamic financial reporting (AAOIFI). Lead preparation of financial reports, management dashboards, and filings for regulatory bodies and the Board.
- Financial Operations & Controls: Establish and maintain strong internal controls, accounting systems, and financial processes suited for a digital-first institution. Oversee budgeting, forecasting, treasury, procurement, and expense management functions.
- Product & Pricing Support: Support business and product teams with financial feasibility, pricing models, and product profitability insights for Islamic products such as Murabaha, Mudaraba, Wakala, and Ijarah. Build digital dashboards to track CAC, ARPU, LTV, contribution margin, and breakeven analysis.
- Risk & Liquidity Oversight: Partner with CRO to manage financial risk, asset-liability mismatch, and Shariah-aligned liquidity buffers. Monitor and optimize funding sources, capital adequacy, and profitability ratios.
- Leadership & Team Development: Recruit and lead the finance and accounting function. Build a performance culture of transparency, accountability, and ethical financial stewardship.
Job Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. Master’s degree (MBA, MSc) preferred. Certified Chartered Accountant (CA, CPA, ACCA) required. Additional certifications in Islamic finance (e.g., CIFE, AAOIFI) strongly preferred.
- Experience: 10–15 years of experience in banking or financial services, with at least 5 years in a senior finance leadership role. Demonstrated experience in Islamic banking and managing Shariah-compliant financial instruments. Strong track record in startup, digital bank, or fintech environments is highly desirable.
- Skills & Competencies: Deep knowledge of Islamic finance and banking structures (profit-and-loss sharing, non-interest models). Strong grasp of digital business metrics, cost optimization, and tech-enabled finance operations. Familiarity with QCB and international financial regulatory frameworks. High integrity, analytical strength, and the ability to lead through complexity and growth.
