Job Description – Logistics & Import Specialist
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented professional to join our logistics and import team. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, a solid background in international trade operations, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Key responsibilities include:
- Demonstrating a proven ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple priorities in a rapidly changing environment.
- Establishing and maintaining effective communication channels with all stakeholders, including suppliers, brokers, freight forwarders, and insurance companies.
- Coordinating closely with freight forwarders to ensure timely and accurate shipment movements.
- Negotiating pricing structures and terms with service providers to optimize cost-efficiency, maximize profit margins, and reduce fees such as freight rates, DTHC, demurrage, and storage charges by developing mutually beneficial strategies.
- Overseeing end-to-end logistics operations to guarantee the proper and timely delivery of shipments.
- Receiving, verifying, and managing all shipping documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness for each transaction.
- Maintaining a well-organized documentation system for easy access and audit readiness.
- Ensuring the timely receipt of original shipping documents from suppliers, either directly or through banking channels, prior to vessel arrival.
- Monitoring and tracking shipments to support the delivery process, ensuring timely, cost-effective, and accurate logistics execution.
- Collaborating with customs representatives, freight forwarders, and other third parties to facilitate the importation process.
- Arranging cargo pickups from suppliers and coordinating final delivery with freight forwarders.
- Ensuring compliance with all customs authority requirements and regulatory procedures for imported goods.
- Adhering to both local and international trade compliance standards in all logistics operations and business transactions.
Job Requirements
Experience: 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in logistics and import operations, preferably within an importing company.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
Technical Proficiency:
Strong command of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Proficient in handling import processes through the NAFEZA platform, including generating and managing ACID numbers.
Skills & Competencies:
High attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and communication.
Proven ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines.
Strong time management and organizational skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
Capable of handling and responding to expedited requests in a fast-paced environment.
