Job Description

Job Summary: The Factory Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the daily operations of our food canning facility. This includes managing production and personnel to ensure the efficient and cost-effective manufacturing of products that meet the highest standards of quality and food safety. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with a proven track record in manufacturing management, particularly within the food industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Production Management:
    • Plan, organize, and direct production schedules to meet sales demands and optimize resource utilization.
    • Monitor production performance against KPIs (e.g., OEE, yield, waste, throughput) and implement corrective actions as needed.
    • Optimize production processes for efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and quality.
    • Ensure timely delivery of finished goods according to production plans.
  • Quality & Food Safety:
    • Uphold and enforce strict adherence to all food safety regulations.
    • Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to investigate and resolve quality issues and customer complaints.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards, certifications, and audits.
  • Operations:
    • Manage and coordinate all factory operations, including processing, canning, and packaging.
    • Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement in operational efficiency and cost reduction.
    • Ensure all equipment is operating safely and effectively.
  • Inventory & Logistics:
    • Coordinate with procurement and logistics teams to ensure timely delivery of raw materials and dispatch of finished products.
  • Team Leadership & Development:
    • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of production supervisors, technicians, and factory staff.
    • Foster a positive and productive work environment that promotes teamwork, safety, and continuous learning.
    • Conduct performance reviews, identify training needs, and provide coaching to enhance team capabilities.
    • Manage staffing levels, recruitment, and disciplinary actions in accordance with HR policies.
  • Health, Safety & Environment (HSE):
    • Ensure a safe working environment by enforcing all company and regulatory health and safety policies.
    • Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments.
    • Promote a culture of safety awareness and responsibility among all factory personnel.
    • Manage waste disposal and environmental compliance.
  • Budgeting & Cost Control:
    • Develop and manage the factory operating budget, controlling expenses and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
    • Monitor and report on production costs, labor costs, and overheads.
  • Reporting & Communication:
    • Prepare regular reports on production performance, quality metrics, safety incidents, and operational challenges.
    • Communicate effectively with senior management, cross-functional teams, and external stakeholders.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical, Food), or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in manufacturing management, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role within the food canning or a closely related food processing industry.
  • Proven expertise in food safety management systems.
  • Strong understanding of canning processes, equipment, and technology.
  • Demonstrated experience in lean manufacturing principles, continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma), and production optimization.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing demands.
  • Proficiency in using ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of local and international food regulations.
  • Fluency in English Language.
