Job Description
Team Leadership & Supervision: Manage and lead the Quality Control team, including setting clear goals, assigning tasks, providing coaching and training, and ensuring staff adherence to quality standards.
• Quality Control Operations: Oversee the daily operations of the quality control department, ensuring the execution of in-process checks, final product testing, and raw material inspections. Ensure that quality control processes are followed and that deviations are managed effectively.
• Product Testing & Inspection: Ensure that all testing (physical, chemical, microbiological) is performed accurately and in compliance with company specifications, regulatory standards (e.g., BRC, GMP, HACCP, GLP), and customer requirements.
• Compliance & Regulatory Oversight: Ensure that all quality control activities comply with regulatory standards, including quality and food safety regulations. Stay current with industry standards and regulatory updates, ensuring company practices align with best practices.
• Non-Conformance & Corrective Actions: Investigate, document, and manage non-conformance issues, ensuring effective root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). Work with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and ensure minimal disruption to production.
• Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, production efficiency, and reduce defects or waste. Participate in lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process optimization programs.
• Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyze quality data and trends, identifying areas for improvement in product quality and process consistency. Prepare detailed reports for management, summarizing quality control activities, inspection results, and corrective actions taken.
• Training & Development: Develop and implement training programs for the quality control team to ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety standards, and quality practices.
• Collaboration with Production & Other Departments: Collaborate with production teams, R&D, and other departments to ensure the smooth integration of quality standards in all stages of production. Provide feedback and support to optimize production processes for quality improvements.
• Resource Management: Oversee the proper maintenance, calibration, and validation of quality control equipment and laboratory tools. Ensure the team has the necessary resources to carry out quality control functions efficiently.
• Audit & Inspection Preparation: Prepare the facility and team for internal and external audits. Ensure that all quality control documentation is up to date and that all relevant records are available for inspection. S
Job Requirements
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Agriculture, or a related field.
- • Experience: Minimum of 6 years of experience in quality control in an FMCG, food manufacturing environment, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role.
- • Quality Management Knowledge: Strong understanding of quality control standards, regulations, and certifications such as GMP, HACCP, ISO 9001, and other relevant industry standards.
- • Leadership & People Management: Proven leadership experience, with the ability to manage, mentor, and motivate a team of quality control technicians. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- • Analytical Skills: Strong data analysis and problem-solving abilities. Proficient in interpreting quality data and using statistical tools (e.g., SPC, trend analysis) to identify and solve quality issues.
- • Technical Expertise: Experience with quality control laboratory equipment and testing methods (e.g., pH meters, moisture analyzers, Acidity, etc.).
- • Process Improvement: Familiar with process improvement methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement initiatives in a manufacturing environment.
- • Time Management: Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively in a fast-paced, production-driven environment.
- • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with industry regulations, food safety laws, and compliance requirements relevant to the FMCG sector.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- • Certification in quality management or process improvement (e.g., TQM, Six Sigma, Lean, ISO 9001, ISO 17025).
- • Experience in auditing or preparing for audits (internal or external) related to quality control.
- • Previous experience with food manufacturing or high-volume consumer goods production.
- • Experience with ERP QMS software or systems for quality control management. Personal Attributes:
