The role places a strong emphasis on documentation, recording, information management, and the application of data analytics to heritage conservation. Carry out the systematic documentation of the historic environment of Abu Dhabi using advanced technologies and methodologies, ensuring that accurate, high-quality data underpins conservation planning and decision-making. Participate in projects involving data analysis and digital heritage to inform strategies, monitor site conditions, and enhance the long-term stewardship of Abu Dhabi's Historic Environment. 3 Key ResponsibilitiesDocumentation and Project ManagementSupport the development and continuous improvement of policies, guidelines, and procedures for the documentation, protection, conservation, and management of Abu Dhabi’s historic environment, ensuring alignment with international standards and best practices. Maintain and continuously update the central archive and baseline database of Abu Dhabi’s Historic Environment, incorporating the latest survey data and documentation outputs. Conduct high-quality documentation and recording of heritage sites using advanced technologies (e.g., laser scanning, photogrammetry, GIS) and methodologies, in line with the annual documentation plan. Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of documentation to support evidence-based conservation planning and decision-making. Contribute to heritage-related research and innovation projects, advancing DCT’s capabilities in digital documentation, heritage science, data analytics, and technological innovation. Provide technical support in heritage surveying, spatial analysis, 3D modeling, and digital documentation to enhance the quality and usability of recorded data. Collaboration and ReportingCollaborate with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders on documentation and conservation-related activities to support the exchange of information and strengthen heritage awareness. Assist in the preparation, review, and updating of baseline data and existing records for buildings and sites within the Historic Environment, particularly for assessment and conservation purposes. Participate in field surveys, documentation tasks, and site analysis activities, contributing to detailed records through inspections, research, and technical input. Prepare and support the dissemination of technical reports, survey outputs, and documentation materials, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and alignment with project needs. Wear the necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when applicable 4 Communication and Business RelationshipsInternalDCT Relevant Sectors / Departments ExternalGovernment AgenciesKey Vendors & SuppliersAny Other Relevant Party 5 QualificationsBachelor’s degree (Masters’ preferred) in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Historic Preservation (Heritage Conservation), Land surveying, or equivalent. 6 ExperienceBachelor Degree Holders: 2 to 4 years of experience in built heritage with a focus on surveying. OR Post Graduate Holders: 1 – 2 years of experience in built heritage with a focus on surveying. 7 SkillsBilingual Communication: Full professional proficiency in English and Arabic, with strong verbal and written communication skills in both languages. Technical Proficiency: Skilled in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), AutoCAD, ArcGIS Pro, Agisoft Metashape, and other drafting and modeling software used for heritage documentation and analysis. Proficient in technical drawing (2D and 3D), architectural drafting, and the use of surveying equipment such as total stations, GPR, GNSS/GPS systems, 3D scanners, and drones (UAVs) for photogrammetry and spatial data collection. Analytical Abilities: Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills with the capacity to interpret and synthesize complex data, research findings, and spatial information. Documentation and Detail Orientation: High attention to detail and a methodical approach to heritage documentation, data management, and technical reporting. Project Support and Organization: Proficiency in project and time management, with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines. Critical Thinking and Problem Solving: Demonstrated ability to approach challenges with sound judgment and logical reasoning. Administrative and Organizational Skills: Competent in managing documentation, files, schedules, and workflows to ensure smooth project execution. Interpersonal Skills: Strong collaboration and interpersonal abilities, with experience working in multidisciplinary teams and with external stakeholders.
