Job Description
Main purpose of the job The primary role involves prepping, de-prepping, and maintaining cables within the inventory, as directed by the Operations Director or other departments. The position ensures that all events have the correct equipment available at the scheduled times. The role requires working as part of a team, inspecting, repairing, and testing all electrical items to the highest standards, whilst maintaining full and accurate records of all work completed.Minimum of 3 years’ experience working within the Events industry.Clear understanding of High Voltage systems, Alternating Current, and Direct Current.Competence in using hand and light power tools for cutting, stripping, and crimping.Demonstrable knowledge of power distribution and electrical safety at work.Strong understanding of cable repair within a warehouse environment.Excellent diagnostic and fault-finding skills.Proficiency in using unleaded solder.Computer literate in Windows applications.Methodical approach with a willingness to learn and share updates with others.High level of accuracy and attention to detail.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to prioritise daily workload effectively.Ability to work independently or as part of a team within strict time constraints.Understanding and compliance with the Company’s Health and Safety Rules.Ability to follow and undertake safe lifting practices as instructed.Flexibility to work additional hours when necessary.Positive attitude towards extra duties and new challenges.Reliable with good timekeeping.Establish routine safety checks of all cables, ensuring they are fit for use and that annual Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) is up to date.Prepare and carry out PAT testing where necessary, ensuring all information is accurately logged.Maintain the cable department, ensuring efficient de-prep and prep of cables.Re-stock cables correctly, ensuring proper addition to stock counts within Winhits.Assist with the safe loading and unloading of vehicles as directed by the Operations Director.Inform the relevant Head of Department of any shortages or issues with equipment ahead of forthcoming jobs.Ensure correct entry of equipment onto the rental software, including barcode scanning.Assist in undertaking stock cycle counts with operational departments when scheduled.Support department technicians with service requests and technical assistance.Ensure all equipment and flight case tour labels are clearly marked for specific jobs.Maintain workshop tools, equipment, and parts storage; inform the Head of Department of stock shortages as required.Undertake repair activities at other locations if required in planned or emergency situations.Keep the department clean and tidy to avoid Health and Safety risks.Liaise with colleagues regarding workload, repairs, or requirements to ensure deadlines are met.Carry out electrical equipment repairs using a methodical approach that ensures consistent results.Maintain a high level of operational and technical expertise regarding audiovisual cables.Keep complete and accurate records of all items in service, including information that may be useful in the future.Ensure compliance with Company policies, rules, procedures, and obligations.Keep the warehouse tidy and orderly at all times.Fulfil any other reasonable task required by the Company.Report any Health and Safety issues to the Operations Manager.Undertake training as required for personal development within the role.Note The above list of duties and responsibilities is not intended to be exhaustive.
