Job Description

A Technical Office Engineer specializing in aluminum facades is responsible for the technical aspects of designing, engineering, and overseeing the installation of aluminum facade systems for buildings. This role requires a strong understanding of engineering principles, construction practices, and aluminum fabrication techniques.

 

Design and Engineering:

  • Review architectural and structural drawings to understand project requirements.
  • Design and engineer aluminum facade systems, including curtain walls, window walls, and cladding.
  • Select appropriate materials, profiles, and hardware for the project.
  • Prepare detailed shop drawings and fabrication drawings for production.
  • Perform structural analysis and calculations to ensure the system's stability and safety.
  • Develop Bill of Materials (BOM) and cost estimates.

Project Coordination:

  • Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, and contractors to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Resolve technical issues and challenges that arise during the project.
  • Monitor the fabrication and installation process to ensure quality and compliance with design specifications.
  • Provide technical support to the installation team.

Quality Control:

  • Inspect materials and components to ensure they meet quality standards.
  • Conduct site inspections to monitor installation progress and identify any defects.
  • Prepare quality control reports and documentation.

 

Job Requirements

  • Proven work experience as a Technical Support Engineer, Desktop Support Engineer, IT Help Desk Technician or similar role
  • Hands-on experience with Windows/Linux/Mac OS environments
  • Good understanding of computer systems, mobile devices and other tech products
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot basic technical issues
  • Familiarity with remote desktop applications and help desk software (eg. Zendesk)
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • Ability to provide step-by-step technical help, both written and verbal
  • BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or relevant field
  • Additional certification in Microsoft, Linux, Cisco or similar technologies is a plus
