Job Description
- Designs and, upon approval, implements all necessary procedures for the exploration and exploitation of new quarries, in order to maximize the life of reserves, enhance the continuous provision of the company with raw materials and decrease the cost of extraction
- Coordinates exploration and research work for new sites conducted by company or outsourced geologists, developing analytical report of findings, so as to enable the optimum planning of new areas exploration
- Coordinates and evaluates all activities and researches aiming the accurate estimation of quality and quantity of actual raw materials reserves, reporting the findings to his/hers supervisor, in order to support the effective scheduling and planning of extraction operations
- Keeps close contact with the market, in order to indentify new opportunities for quarry operations expansion
- Liaises with local and state Government mining authorities, to acquire official licenses for the new quarries, in order to ensure fast and incoercible operation of the new quarries
- Inspects regularly the quarries territory and follows-up daily reports of the security department, in order to prevent violation of company’s interest and illegal intrusion into company lease areas or properties
- Implements or follows-up Health, Environment and Safety plans in conjunction with the H&S Manager and conducts regular follow-ups of the quarry operations, in order to identify and report potential discrepancies from the local legislation and company’s standards
- Motivates, develops and manages his team in a way that ensures high level of initiative, professionalism, cooperation and development opportunities
- Follows-up local legislation and TCE safety rules.
- Writes procedures to implement safe practices.
- Provides the safety training to all the contractors’ drivers at the quarries.
- Introduces working methods to comply with local laws and TCE environmental standards (Air quality, noise, vibration and water)
- Implements the ongoing rehabilitation plan.
Job Requirements
- University degree in geology or mining
- 5-7 years of relevant hands-on experience in quarries operations
Technical Skills
- Excellent technical knowledge of the quarry operations
- Very good knowledge of the quarry reserve estimation methodology
- Advanced knowledge of the extraction planning and methodologies
- Excellent knowledge of the quarry’s operational legal framework
- Very good knowledge of safety laws and regulations, as well as environment legislation
- Project management skills
- Flexibility and innovation
- Very good communication and interpersonal skills
- Analytical thinking
- Ability to set priorities and organize tasks and meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently and take initiatives
- Fluency in English
- PC literacy
