Job Description

1. Follow-Up for Emergency Cases:
o Follow up with patients who were unable to find space in public hospitals during
the emergency phase.
o Refer these patients to contracted private hospitals where necessary, ensuring that
they receive continued care without delay.
o Work with the emergency hotline team to ensure smooth handover and continuity
of care for patients transferred to private hospitals.

2. Receiving and Reviewing Medical Reports:
o Receive and review follow-up medical reports from hospitals regarding patients
admitted for treatment.
o Assess the reports to ensure that patients are progressing as expected and
determine whether further interventions are needed.
o Coordinate with the hospitals to obtain any missing or additional information
regarding the patient's condition.

3. Issuing Approvals for Emergency Interventions:
o Evaluate and issue approvals for emergency medical interventions based on the
patient’s needs and the project's SOPs.
o Ensure that all interventions are in line with the terms outlined in the contract
between Mersal Foundation and the contracted hospitals.
o Review the medical necessity of interventions and ensure that approval processes
are completed efficiently to avoid delays in patient care.

4. Documentation & Reporting:
o Maintain detailed records of all follow-up actions, including referrals to private
hospitals, received medical reports, and approved emergency interventions.
o Prepare reports summarizing follow-up activities, patient progress, and any
challenges or delays encountered during the follow-up process.

5. Collaboration with Other Teams:
o Work closely with the Emergency Hotline Team to ensure continuity of care for
patients transitioning from emergency stabilization to follow-up treatment.
o Coordinate with the Medical Team Leader, Referral Focal Point Doctor, and
Project Section Head to ensure that the patient's journey through the SHC project
remains seamless.

Job Requirements

1. Medical Degree (MD or Equivalent): Required, with experience in internal medicine,
pediatrics, or emergency care preferred.
2. Clinical Experience: At least 2 years in a hospital setting, emergency, or follow-up care.
3. Knowledge of UNHCR SOPs: Familiarity with refugee healthcare protocols and
approval processes.
4. Medical Documentation Skills: Experience reviewing and assessing medical reports,
with proficiency in electronic health records.
5. Approval Process Management: Ability to evaluate and approve emergency medical
interventions based on patient needs and SOPs.
6. Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication in Arabic and English
(additional languages a plus).
7. Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills for assessing medical reports and patient
progress.
8. Teamwork: Ability to collaborate with healthcare professionals and coordinate care
effectively.
9. Emotional Resilience: Sensitivity to cultural differences and managing ongoing medical
needs in sensitive situations.
10. Adaptability: Flexibility to handle changing patient needs and project demands.
