Job Description

1. Follow-Up for Emergency Cases

  • Track patients unable to find space in public hospitals during emergencies.
  • Refer them to contracted private hospitals when needed to ensure timely care.
  • Coordinate with the Emergency Hotline Team for smooth handover and continuity of care.

2. Receiving and Reviewing Medical Reports

  • Receive follow-up medical reports from hospitals.
  • Evaluate patient progress and identify the need for further interventions.
  • Follow up with hospitals to obtain missing or additional information.

3. Issuing Approvals for Emergency Interventions

  • Assess emergency cases and issue approvals in accordance with project SOPs.
  • Ensure interventions align with contractual terms between Mersal Foundation and hospitals.
  • Expedite approvals to avoid care delays.

4. Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain thorough records of referrals, medical reports, and approved interventions.
  • Prepare regular summaries on follow-up activities, patient status, and any encountered challenges.

5. Collaboration with Other Teams

  • Work closely with the Emergency Hotline Team for patient transitions.
  • Coordinate with the Medical Team Leader, Referral Focal Point Doctor, and Section Head to ensure seamless care within the SHC project.

 

Job Requirements

  • Medical Degree (MD or equivalent) — Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, or Emergency Care experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years in clinical settings (hospital, emergency, or follow-up care).
  • Familiarity with UNHCR SOPs and refugee healthcare protocols.
  • Proficient in reviewing medical reports and using electronic health records.
  • Capable of managing approval processes for emergency interventions based on SOPs and patient needs.
  • Strong verbal and written skills in Arabic and English (additional languages are a plus).
  • Skilled in assessing patient progress and identifying potential medical concerns.
  • Experience collaborating with diverse healthcare teams.
  • Sensitive to cultural differences and capable of handling delicate patient situations.
  • Able to manage shifting patient needs and project demands efficiently.
