Job Description
- Oversee the financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting processes for the manufacturing division
- Analyze manufacturing costs and identify opportunities for cost reduction or process improvements
- Develop and maintain robust cost models to track direct materials, labor, overhead, and other manufacturing-related expenses
- Conduct variance analysis to understand the drivers behind cost fluctuations and identify areas for improvement
- Collaborate with production and procurement teams to optimize inventory levels, material usage, and supplier costs
- Monitor KPIs and financial performance metrics for the manufacturing operations
- Provide financial recommendations and decision support to the manufacturing leadership team on capital investments, process changes, product pricing, and other strategic initiatives
- Participate in the development of the manufacturing division's strategic plan, contributing financial perspectives and analysis
- Lead special projects focused on improving manufacturing efficiency, reducing costs, or enhancing profitability
- Oversee and mentor a team of financial professionals, including cost accountants, financial analysts, and report specialists
- Ensure the team has the necessary skills, tools, and resources to effectively support the manufacturing operations
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the finance function
- Collaborate with the production, supply chain, and procurement teams to optimize inventory levels and manage working capital
- Support the financial manager in financial planning, capital budgeting, and strategic initiatives
- Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, tax requirements, and internal controls
- Lead a team of manufacturing finance professionals and oversee their professional development
- Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for the manufacturing division
- Lead the budgeting process, including gathering input from operational leaders, developing detailed manufacturing cost budgets, and consolidating into the overall company budget
- Produce accurate and insightful financial forecasts to predict future performance and identify potential issues or opportunities
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA or CMA certification preferred.
- 10+ years of finance/accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a manufacturing environment
- At least 5 years of experience in similar position.
- Advanced skills in financial modeling and data analysis using tools like Excel, SQL, and ERP systems.
- Extensive knowledge of cost accounting principles, including standard costing, activity-based costing, and variance analysis.
- Proficient in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting
- Excellent communication and leadership skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Proven ability to identify and implement process improvements and cost-saving initiatives
- Strong business acumen and the ability to translate financial insights into actionable recommendations for operational leaders
- Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively convey complex financial information to both financial and non-financial stakeholders
- Proven track record of leading process improvement initiatives and delivering cost-saving solutions in a manufacturing environment
