Key Focus Areas
- Cloud Infrastructure Management: Efficient operation on AWS and EKS Clusters, leveraging Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for scalable and resilient cloud infrastructure development and maintenance.
- Sustainability & Cost Optimisation: Focus on optimising resource consumption to ensure sustainability and cost-effectiveness.
- Operational Excellence: Ensure the smooth operation of systems with preventive measures to reduce unplanned downtimes, incorporating DevOps tools and techniques to enhance service and security.
- DevOps & CI/CD: Champion DevOps culture and CI/CD workflow standards within the digital team, driving improvements and fostering innovation.
- Security: Implement security best practices to safeguard both development processes and live traffic, supporting the development team in maintaining a secure infrastructure.
Ideal Candidate Experience
- Cloud Proficiency: Deep knowledge of AWS, with a particular emphasis on Kubernetes management using EKS & Helm.
- Infrastructure Automation: Hands-on experience managing cloud resources and orchestrating deployments with Terraform, ensuring reliable and repeatable infrastructure provisioning.
- CI/CD and GitOps: Skilled in configuring CI/CD pipelines, leveraging GitHub, and adhering to GitOps practices for streamlined and efficient operations.
- Scripting and Containerisation: Strong *nix scripting abilities coupled with Docker expertise for creating lightweight, portable, and scalable applications.
- Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC): A thorough understanding of the SDLC, with a focus on testing, deployment, release strategies, and implementing robust monitoring solutions.
- Monitoring and Telemetry: Proficiency in utilising telemetry platforms like DataDog for monitoring Kubernetes clusters and applications, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Distributed Systems: Experience with Apache Kafka or similar technologies for event storing and stream processing, supporting scalable and resilient architectures.
- Service Reliability Engineering (SRE) Practices: A commitment to applying SRE principles to ensure system reliability, minimise toil through automation, and promote continuous improvement.
