Job Description
- Facilitates MYP teachers in matters pertaining to the written, taught and assessed curriculum, and ensures that all program elements are actively incorporated into the classroom, including:
- Learner profile.
- Global Context.
- MYP fundamental concepts (holistic learning, intercultural understanding, approaches to learning)
- Concepts, skills, attitudes and action.
- Facilitates MYP teachers in implementing the MYP planning process.
- Oversees professional development program and implementation for MYP faculty.
- Oversees student life and discipline in MYP, and ensures that appropriate student records are maintained.
- Liaison between the school/teachers and the IB.
- MYP accreditation process.
- Communicate important IB announcements, developments and publications to the
- teachers.
- Assists in overseeing all aspects of student life and activity in MYP - scheduling, environment, events, etc. The MYP IB coordinator assigns grade level leaders to assist in these matters.
- Ensures that MYP budgeting, book and supply orders meet the needs to the MYP program, and ensures that appropriate textbooks, resources and facilities are available.
- Attends activities after school and on weekends if necessary.
- Identifies and communicates the roles and responsibilities of each member of the pedagogical leadership team for the program continuum.
- Identifies and trains teachers to take on responsibilities for pedagogical leadership within grade levels and in the classroom.
- Develops, in collaboration with specific interest groups, a clear, long-term strategic plan for the articulation of the program continuum, with actions and a timeline for its implementation.
- Structures activities to develop the continuum collaboratively.
- Ensures that all teachers and administrations have access to the documentation for all IB programs.
- Facilities continuous, mutual cooperation and collaboration between administrations MY stage coordinators and teachers at all levels.
- Organizes the formal procedures in preparation for moderation and certification.
- Keeps up to date on all IB and MYP developments, and Keeps teachers informed of current MYP developments.
- Makes sure the continuity from MYP to DP happens.
- Makes sure the program is well implemented and monitored.
- Coordinates participation at MYP and other workshops and professional development.
- Informs newly- appointed MYP staff of all relevant aspects of the program.
- Informs all staff of the assessment and the procedures and deadlines for possible moderation.
- Keeps HOS & vice HOS informed of MYP developments.
- Liaise with coordinators of other programs in the school (for example, PYP coordinator and upper school / Diploma program coordinator).
- Handles communication with the different IB offices.
- Keeps copies of all correspondence with the IB, including forms, documents and reports on laptops.
- Ensures appropriate conditions for the conduct of possible moderation and / or monitoring of assessment.
- Performs other tasks that may be required.
Job Requirements
- A bachelor's degree. Extra studies are a plus.
- 7+ years of experience, including teaching experience
- Fluency in written and spoken English Language, knowledge of Arabic Language, knowledge of French and/or German languages is a plus
- Strong interpersonal, administrative, organizational and leadership skills.
