Job Description

Job Purpose: The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing the manufacturing process, coordinating all production activities, and ensuring that the production schedule meets the company's quality standards, deadlines, and cost objectives. This role involves managing a team of production staff, optimizing workflows, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Production Planning:

  • Develop and implement production plans, schedules, and workflows to meet company targets.
  • Ensure production activities align with business goals and customer requirements.

Team Management:

  • Lead, supervise, and motivate the production team to achieve high performance and productivity.
  • Provide training, development, and performance management for production staff.

Quality Control:

  • Oversee the implementation of quality control procedures to ensure product standards are met.
  • Monitor production processes and make adjustments to ensure quality and consistency.

Process Optimization:

  • Identify and implement improvements in production processes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Utilize lean manufacturing principles and other best practices to streamline operations.

Resource Management:

  • Manage the allocation of resources, including materials, equipment, and personnel, to optimize production efficiency.
  • Ensure the maintenance and proper functioning of all production equipment.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure all production activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Promote a culture of safety and ensure that safety protocols are followed by all production staff.

Budget Management:

  • Develop and manage the production budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and adherence to financial targets.
  • Monitor production costs and implement cost-saving measures as necessary.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with other departments, such as engineering, quality assurance, and supply chain, to ensure seamless production operations.
  • Communicate effectively with senior management regarding production status, issues, and improvements.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate production records and prepare regular reports on production performance, quality issues, and efficiency improvements.
  • Use data to identify trends, forecast production needs, and make informed decisions.

Job Requirements

Key Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Industrial Management, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Experience: At least 5-7 years of experience in a production or manufacturing environment, with a minimum of 3 years in a managerial role.
  • Skills:
    • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
    • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Proficiency in production management software and tools.
    • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
