Job Description
Key Accountability
- Carries out maintenance on Company aircraft up to or exceeding Airline co. and GCAA standards.
- Reviews the operational status of Airline co. aircraft on a daily basis, ensuring that good communication exists between GAMCO, Airline co. Flight Operations and the Airline co. Maintenance Department.
- Checks that GAMCO [MCC] produce the daily Airline co. status sheet, reviewing and approving entries made.
- Regularly monitors the Aircraft Defect Status sheet and ensures defects are cleared by GAMCO in a timely and cost-effective manner whilst adhering to the required standards. Acts as a focal point for target dates/times for clearing defects on aircraft. Maintains a regular and frequent defect monitoring role within Airline co. and follows-up with GAMCO and line stations as necessary.
- Assembles components, such as switches, electrical controls, and junction boxes, using hand tools and soldering iron.
- Connects components to assemblies, such as radio systems, instruments, magnetos, inverters, and in-flight refueling systems, using hand tools and soldering iron.
- Tests components or assemblies, using circuit tester, oscilloscope, and voltmeter.
- Lays out installation of assemblies and systems in aircraft, according to blueprints and wiring diagrams, using scribe, scale, and protractor.
- Sets up and operates ground support and test equipment to perform functional flight test of electrical and electronic systems.
- Fabricates parts and test aids as required.
- Interprets flight test data to diagnose malfunctions and systemic performance problems.
- Installs electrical and electronic components, assemblies, and systems in aircraft, using hand tools, power tools, and soldering iron.
- Adjusts, repairs, or replaces malfunctioning components or assemblies, using hand tools and soldering iron.
- Updates the Maintenance Supervisor of pending problems with Company aircraft which cause concern or could result in operational disruption, or involve a drop in acceptable service standards.
- Advises the Maintenance Supervisor of equipment or tooling shortfalls that could potentially affect maintenance operations.
- Carries out technical and administrative tasks as directed by the Assistant manager – Maintenance or a Maintenance Supervisor.
- Checks aircraft appearance regularly and carries out audits on the interior identifying discrepancies and reporting findings to the Assistant Manager – Maintenance.
- Carries out technical projects as directed by the Assistant Manager – Maintenance.
- Assists with the updating of technical manuals in accordance with the latest amendments issued by aircraft manufacturers and equipment suppliers.
- Monitors and files technical records [e.g. TDRs’ and MEAs’] and maintains their database for the station.
- Prepares, or assists in preparing, weekly and monthly fuel and other reports for the station as required and submits to the Maintenance Supervisor, as specified.
Job Requirements
- Licensed Aircraft 737-800 IS a MUST
- Essential – An aircraft engineering diploma or certificate from a recognized university or engineering college.
- 5 or more years working in a similar capacity within the aviation industry.
- Possesses appropriate knowledge of the legal requirements of the GCAA. Professional membership of associations related to the aircraft industry and/or engineering professions would be an advantage.
