Junior Power BI Specialist

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Power BI Specialist to support the development of dashboards, reports, and data Models that empower decision-making across the organization. He'll also assist in collecting, transforming, analyzing, and visualizing data using Microsoft Power BI, ensuring timely and accurate insights for both internal teams and external stakeholders.

Roles & Responsibilities

Data Connection & Preparation
● Assist in connecting Power BI to various data sources, including MySQL databases (AWS RDS), Excel,
and cloud-based platforms.
● Help prepare, clean, and transform raw data into usable datasets.
● Ensure data accuracy and consistency before building reports.
Report & Dashboard Development
● Create dashboards and reports.
● Implement data visualizations using charts, tables, and KPIs.
● Assist in embedding Power BI reports into web portals for internal and external users.

Data Analysis & Insights
● Support senior team members in analyzing trends, KPIs, and patterns.
● Use DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) for calculated columns and measures.
● Document analysis findings clearly and concisely.

Data Refresh & Gateway Management
● Assist in setting up and maintaining scheduled data refreshes.
● Help monitor and troubleshoot data gateway connections.
Collaboration & Communication
● Work with business teams to understand reporting requirements.
● Participate in regular review meetings to refine dashboards.
● Share progress updates with team leads.

Learning & Development
● Continuously learn new Power BI features and best practices.
● Keep up-to-date with Microsoft updates and new visualization techniques.
Pricing & Licensing Research
● research and document Power BI licensing options (Pro, Premium, Embedded) for different user
groups.
● Help estimate costs for internal and external user scenarios based on business requirements.

Power BI Gateway Setup & Maintenance
● Support in installing, configuring, and testing the On-Premises Data Gateway to connect Power BI
Service with on-site or AWS-hosted MySQL databases.
● Assist in setting up secure authentication, firewall rules, and drivers needed for the gateway
connection.
● Monitor and troubleshoot gateway performance to ensure scheduled data refresh runs without
errors.
