Job Description
The Role
We are looking for a Head of Production to provide strategic and operational leadership to our entire manufacturing division. Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will assume full responsibility for a large-scale operation, leading a workforce of 250+ employees through a management team of supervisors and team leaders.
This is a pivotal executive role focused on transformative leadership. Your primary mission will be to drive profitability and efficiency across the plant. The key challenge for your first year will be to architect and execute strategies that deliver measurable results, including reducing production waste by 10% and achieving benchmark-level on-time delivery rates.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned operational executive with a proven track record in large-scale manufacturing. You are a leader who excels at building robust systems, developing other leaders, and using data to optimize every facet of the production lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Executive Leadership & Strategic Planning:
Set the strategic direction for all production departments, including Pre-Press, Printing, Die-Cutting, Gluing, Sheeting, and the Biopack division.
Lead, mentor, and develop the production management team, fostering a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Develop and manage the annual production budget, ensuring all operations meet financial and performance targets.
Oversee long-term capacity planning and capital expenditure recommendations for machinery and technology upgrades.
Operational Excellence & Process Re-engineering:
Champion Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement initiatives on a plant-wide scale to drive efficiency and reduce waste.
Design, implement, and refine production tracking systems to provide accurate, real-time data on KPIs, using advanced tools and methodologies.
Mastermind the production schedule to optimize workflow, maximize throughput, and ensure exceptional on-time delivery performance.
Quality, Safety, and Collaboration:
Act as the ultimate authority on quality control, ensuring all products meet and exceed client specifications.
Enforce a world-class Health & Safety (OHS) program, ensuring a safe and compliant working environment for all employees.
Serve as a key member of the senior management team, collaborating with Sales, Supply Chain, and Finance to align on company-wide objectives.
Job Requirements
Experience: A minimum of 5-15 years of extensive experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment, with at least 2 years in a senior leadership role (e.g., Plant Manager, Director of Operations, Head of Production). Experience in printing or packaging is highly advantageous.
Leadership: Demonstrable success in leading, motivating, and developing a large workforce (200+ employees) in a multi-shift industrial setting.
Technical Acumen: Deep understanding of complex manufacturing processes. While direct offset printing experience is a plus, a strong industrial engineering or operational management background is paramount.
Process Improvement: A proven track record of successfully implementing large-scale process improvement projects (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.) that result in significant cost savings and efficiency gains.
Systems & Data: Expertise in developing and using metrics to drive performance. Experience thriving in an environment without a formal MIS/ERP system, and the ability to build effective manual or semi-automated systems (e.g., using advanced Excel), is a critical skill for this role.
Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field is required. An MBA or other advanced degree is a plus.
